We are refining a method for collecting data on social, natural, and built features of urban environments block-by-block. By collecting this data, we will be able to study and address individual and neighborhood-level variation in exposure to ecologic determinants of health. This tool will facilitate future research on the quality of built and social environments in Prince George’s County neighborhoods that are differentially burdened by environmental hazards and pollution. This tool will also help local residents map indicators of social and physical order and health (i.e., banks, green space, sidewalks, parks, grocery stores, walking paths) and (i.e,, fast-food restaurants, disorder (trash, broken windows, liquor stores, pawn shops, convenience stores, cigarette advertisement, graffiti).
