CEEJH-Namati Partnership

Communities in the Chesapeake Bay region are battling interconnected challenges, including including transportation inequities, air pollution, housing disparities, food insecurity, and energy injustice. The COVID-19 pandemic has compounded these issues, and the effects are being felt disproportionately. Aligned with a common goal to counter these injustices, CEEJH is partnering with Namati, a global leader in environmental justice advocacy and legal empowerment, to bring legal advocacy and science inpowerment to frontline and fenceline communities impacted by environmental and climate injustice in the region. By supporting local organizing, policy development, and utilizing air quality monitoring and mapping tools, CEEJH and Namati are working to use community engagement and organizing to support action and policy change in regards to environmental and climate injustice.

The initial partnership has focused on the Mid-Atlantic region, but the team is planning to do more work internationally through the launch of a global environmental justice training campaign.  More details coming soon!
